Permaculture design for a 5-acre homestead in rural Orgeon.
Challenge:
Design a property from bare land in order to create a residential homestead incorporating Permaculture principles.
Solutions:
Site the house for maximum solar exposure and gravity fed irrigation from ponds. Rainwater harvesting earthworks create the foundation for fruit, nut and shelter trees, a vineyard, and annual gardens.
Since completion of this conceptual design, several elements have been installed. The photos show the site before installation and progress as of July 2014.
